Journey is from a successful "pureblood" family. Many moons ago, her parents Dante and Isabel were friends with several people who would become Death Eaters. They were expected to join forces with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, but instead went directly to Dumbledore for counsel and help in protecting their young family. While the Oliverezes didn't take much of a fighting stance against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, they became well-known for their support of Dumbledore. Their loyalty to Dumbledore was unquestioned until late this summer, when Dante was put under investigation by the Ministry of Magic for cooperating with Death Eaters. Isabel is convinced her husband, if truly guilty, must be under an imperius curse, as he worked hard to instill a respect for Dumbledore to both Journey and her older sister Mercia.
Journey is what the muggles would call a "Type B" personality, even though she's a Ravenclaw to the core. Learning comes pretty naturally to her, and while she doesn't have to study hard in most subjects, she tends to dive right in anyway, as a form of enjoyment. She's naturally curious and has a bit of a busybody streak that she tries to curb, because as much as she wants to know what's going on, she's somewhat relationship-oriented. Journey can have a sharp tongue on occasion and when she's comfortable with people, she'll open up and use her wit more openly.
Journey also does make an effort to be friendly to most people, and civil to people she doesn't much like, even though it's not always possible. She likes for people to understand her, but at the same time, she values self-control so much that it's sometimes hard for people to know what she means or really thinks. Her favorite things, before the family drama of the summer, include reading and taking day-long sabbaticals in the woods of her parents' estate in Merceyside or Port Sunlight. One of her biggest vices is spending money; the other is catering to her curious and adventurous nature. She's been dating Danny De Rouge since late in her fifth year, and is very proud of her compassionate and creative boyfriend.
